The New SieMatic "FloatingSpaces"
01.10.2011
At the SieMatic Forum 2011, SieMatic Möbelwerke demonstrated how far the kitchen has progressed beyond a mere work area with the introduction of their new design concept, “FloatingSpaces“, which offers a near complete integration of the kitchen within the living area and will be available from houseworks in Ireland from October 2011.
The objective is to create fluidity between rooms and allow transitions of functional elements and, in so doing, to achieve continuity around cooking and living as well as technology and aesthetics.
One of the central elements is the panel system, newly developed by SieMatic, which seamlessly blends kitchen and living room to form a single space. The panel system is available in many of the materials in SieMatic's extensive portfolio featuring natural woods and finishes including matt or gloss lacquer as well as high-quality laminate that can be combined in numerous ways. The matching panel shelves offer many different possibilities for a flexible wall design. The arrangement and combinations of different colors and materials create appealing accents. The functional elements are available in different sizes and lengths as well as in various materials, which can be used in the same or contrasting tone as the panel wall's surface.

The new panel system plays a supporting role the design of the SieMatic SE 4004 in Graphite Oak complemented by tall cabinets in black-brown gloss lacquer. The bright Lotus White panels are contrasted by dark shelves, emphasizing their asymmetric arrangement. Among the elegant and appealing details and accents are the shelf elements made of matt aluminium with polished edges and the 3-cm thick SieMatic StoneDesign countertop made of the composite stone, Merope Matt, which mimics the size and color of the dark shelves.

The panel system is also a central design element of the SieMatic SE 5005 in Lotus White gloss. Here, the panels in Stone Beech wood veneer elegantly hide the tall cabinets that are typical for a kitchen. The wood surface selected creates a light, Nordic atmosphere. The white panel shelves blend together with the countertops of the same 3-cm thickness, uniting kitchen and living room. The kitchen storage space is completely invisible and seamlessly transitions into the wall surfaces of the living room. The design and arrangement of the shelves have a living room character and result in an optically calm environment. The opendesign of the panel system immediately draws one's attention to individual decorative as well as functional elements that combine to provide the harmony of cooking, eating and living with a personal touch.
SieMatic Floating Spaces will be on display in houseworks from October 2011.
