Cucumber Salad & Chinese Greens With Sesame Oil

Ingredients:


These are two lovely side dishes developed by the one and only Ivan Whelan for the Chinese New Year bash.


Serves 6


Cucumber Salad

2 cucumbers

1 large clove of garlic

2 teaspoons Soy sauce.

2 teaspoons light rice vinegar

1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil.


Chinese Greens with Sesame Oil and Soy

Chinese Greens - 9 heads of baby Pak Choi

1 tablesp of sesame oil

2 tablesp soy

Dash of water

Pepper


Preparation:


Cucumber Salad

Peel cucumber, ¼ lengthways and cut into chunks. Crush garlic, mix with other ingredients including cucumber and mix.


Chinese Greens With Sesame Oil

Wash your greens and half them through the root. Don’t dry them. Put them in a sauce pan with the soy, the sesame and about ½ a cup water. Put on a medium heat and allow to steam until cooked al dante. Give it one little stir and serve in a warm bowl with the juice.
