Cast iron work is something a lot of contractors dodge, we still do it properly. There is real satisfaction in restoring a Victorian hopper head rather than ripping it out.

What happens on the survey

When I come out to look at the job, here is what I do:

1. Walk the full roofline and check every section of gutter, bracket, and downpipe
2. Check the fall angle and confirm water is tracking to the correct outlet
3. Look at the soffit and fascia condition behind the gutter before quoting
4. Give you a straight price, no extras invented on the day

That last one matters more than people expect.

Materials and approach

I use decent materials, not the cheapest stuff that warps after two winters. Fascia boards are properly fitted so the gutter sits at the right angle from day one. Getting the fall right is not complicated, it is just attention to detail most people skip.
