Nuneaton Patios
A decent summer makes all the difference
When the sun finally shows up, you want to be outside. A well-laid patio gives you that space, properly done, without the mud and hassle every time it rains the day before.
We work across Nuneaton and the surrounding area. A lot of the gardens we go into sit behind Warwickshire red brick terraces and 1990s Barratt-style estate houses, where the original paving is cracked, uneven, or just tired-looking. We know these plots well.
What we lay and build
- Porcelain tiled patios, indoor-outdoor grades that handle frost
- Indian sandstone and kandla grey sandstone calibrated 22mm, which sits flat and cuts cleanly
- Concrete flagstones where budget is the priority
- Garden paths and paved areas tied into the main patio
- New walling in block or natural stone
- Timber and close-board fencing
- Artificial grass and turfed lawns
The material matters, but so does the ground it sits on. A patio is only as good as what’s underneath it.
How a typical installation week runs
We keep it straightforward. Here’s the usual order of work:
1. Excavation, dig out to the right depth for your soil type
2. Sub-base, compacted MOT Type 1 hardcore laid and tamped down
3. Bedding layer, sharp sand and cement mix or a full mortar bed
4. Laying the slabs or tiles, keeping falls correct for drainage
5. Jointing, either a dry brush mix or a wet pointing compound (the jointing stage is where a lot of cowboy jobs fall apart later)
6. Final clean and seal where the material calls for it
It’s not glamorous work. It is, however, work that lasts twenty years when it’s done right.
