The ground doesn’t lie

Cold snaps hit Long Island hard. What that does to a poorly laid surface, I’ve seen it too many times. Frost gets underneath, water finds its way in, and by spring you’re looking at cracking and lift you can’t ignore. That’s the job right there.

We’ve been working driveways, patios, and walkways across Babylon and the surrounding Suffolk County area for years. The work speaks for itself. Honestly, it’s not glamorous.

What we work with

We cover a full range of surfacing options, depending on what the ground needs and what you’re after:

• Hot mix asphalt, new-laid blacktop driveways
• Asphalt overlays over existing surfaces
• Interlock concrete pavers, wet-laid and dry-laid
• Concrete slab paving for patios and terraces
• Permeable paver systems where drainage is the issue
• Walkway paving, brick-pattern and straight-cut

The drainage piece matters more than people realize. I’ve gone out to jobs where the previous contractor just laid asphalt straight over compacted soil with no grading, no fall, nothing. Water pooled at the garage door. We sorted the sub-base, put proper fall into it (two percent minimum toward the street), and that was that.

How we work

We prep the base properly. That’s it, really. No shortcut on sub-base depth, no skipping the compaction runs. The crew knows what they’re doing. We carry our own equipment, we don’t sub out the machine work.

We do a fair bit of work around West Babylon, North Babylon, Lindenhurst. The guys from the West Babylon Fire Department know our trucks by now. That’s just how it goes when you’re local.

The surfaces we lay hold up because the groundwork is done right. However the finish looks matters too, and we take that seriously.
