First job I ever laid was a sandstone patio that kept lifting after two winters. Learnt fast. That was a long time ago now, and we have not made that mistake since.

We are based in Epping, Essex, and we lay patios, paving and garden surfaces day in, day out. We know the ground conditions here. We know how freeze-thaw cycles catch out a poorly bedded slab, and anyone who has worked near coastal areas knows full well what salt air and sea-spray do to the wrong materials over time. Right, that experience shapes every job we price and every mix we spec.

On materials, we are honest with customers. Porcelain is low maintenance and handles the weather well. Indian sandstone has great character but needs sealing right. Concrete flags are hardwearing and cost-effective for larger areas. We talk through the options properly before anything gets agreed.

Fencing and walling are part of what we do too. A patio that backs onto a rotten fence or a crumbling wall is never going to look right, so it makes sense for one crew to handle the whole thing.
