Portmarnock Guttering

Portmarnock Guttering

Who we are

Portmarnock, County Dublin. That’s where we’re based, and it’s mostly where we work, covering D13 and the wider northside coast right the way up through Malahide and Swords. We’ve been on rooflines long enough to know what the salt air off the Irish Sea does to brackets and fixings.

What do we actually do?

Good question. We handle the full run of rainwater and roofline work, from a single cracked section up to a whole-house strip-out and re-fit.

  • uPVC gutters and downpipes, half-round and ogee profiles
  • Aluminium seamless guttering cut on-site
  • Cast iron gutter restoration and repainting
  • Soffit and fascia replacement in uPVC
  • Leaf guards and gutter mesh fitted
  • Rainwater diverters and water butt connections
  • Re-alignment and bracket re-spacing for correct fall

One thing that catches people out is the downpipe back plate masonry fixing. A lot of downpipes we see have been screwed into soft render with no proper back plate behind them. They pull away from the wall and the pipe starts channelling water straight into the masonry. We fix that properly, with solid fixings into the brick.

Can you work in winter or when it’s raining?

Mostly, yes. Can we seal joints and fit new fascia boards in a downpour? We can’t, and we won’t, because it won’t hold. However, plenty of repair work, bracket replacements, clearing blockages, and realigning existing runs can go ahead in cold or overcast conditions. We’ll always be straight with you about what’s worth doing on a given day. We’re not going to have you waiting until April for a job that can be done in January.

A bit of local context

We know this patch well. The old Clontarf Fire Station is a short run from some of the Victorian terraces we work on regularly. The guttering on those houses has been there donkey’s years, and it shows.
