What we do

Patio work, done properly. We lay patios across Thaxted, Essex and the surrounding area, working with materials that last and finishes that hold up through an English winter. Every job gets the same attention, whether it’s a modest back garden or a full outdoor overhaul.

Materials we work with

We cover the full range of patio surfaces. Clients come to us with different budgets and different tastes, so we work across quite a spread of materials.

• Porcelain tiles, calibrated and frost-resistant
• Indian sandstone, a reliable natural choice
• Concrete flagstones for solid, low-maintenance results
• Block paving, suited to driveways and garden paths
• Natural stone, including Liscannor flagstone when clients want real character underfoot

Substrate preparation matters as much as the surface layer. We set beds to a consistent fall, typically a 1-in-60 gradient away from the building, so water drains clear and the paving stays stable over time.

Beyond the patio

Most jobs grow once we’re on site, it’s a natural thing. A new patio often leads into a path, a lawn, or a boundary fix. We handle all of that directly.

• Garden walling, brick and block
• Turfed lawns, roll-on grass laid to a prepared base
• Artificial grass, fitted and edged cleanly
• Garden paths connecting patio to gate or outbuilding

How we work

We give you a straight quote before anything starts. No vague estimates. If the ground conditions change something once we dig in, we tell you before we adjust. You stay informed throughout, not just at the start and end.

We’ve been doing this long enough to know that a well-laid patio rarely needs drama. Good prep, right materials, clean edges. That’s most of it.
