Staying On Top Of Your Home Maintenance

To provide longevity and most certainly, to avoid any costly problems with your home, you should ensure to carry out yearly maintenance once, if not twice a year!

We recommend in spring after the winter weather and in autumn before the cold weather hits. This provides maximum protection and allows for early detection of any problems with your home.

The chores for maintenance involve a visual inspection of all the roof coverings, which includes the garage roof, the residential roof and any other roof coverings you might have on our property.

Make sure to look for loose or displaced shingles and tiles, use a hose to gently spray water over the roof to ensure water is moving freely into the guttering system and that the guttering is carrying the water away correctly.

Stick a hose in the top of the guttering to ensure there is no blockage and follow the water to where the downpipe is connected to.

If the guttering is connected into the drains system, inspect the manhole by removing the cover, you should pop it open to look inside to make sure it is still flowing correctly.

Check for any damage to your outdoor taps or electrical points from frost and make sure all your utility connections to the house are safe and intact.

Of course, this all comes down to your capability around your home. Personally, i hate heights so I always hire a roofer to do the yearly maintenance check on the roof for me. If you do need a roofing contractor, here is a list to help you pick one.
